Random 1

One thing that always grieved me with the 5700 was the autofocus in low light. No problems for D200 though :D

Life's Mysteries

Up there with aliens and how the universe began, or why are we here on earth? A question that is comfortable juxtaposed with others such as is there a God? Or if one synchronised swimmer drowns, do they all have to drown?

The question that troubles me is do blondes assume a pose whenever a camera is pointed at them?

Mt Coottha Botanical Gardens

Typical sunny winter's day in Brisbane, I wish it would stay like this all year round. I think I am coming to grips with the camera, I'm still figuring out appropriate metering methods for different subjects and how best to use the white balance. One thing I am have noticed I used to do with the coolpix 5700 was compose for metering and colour rendition using the electronic view finder which showed the image, albeit very tiny, exactly as the camera was to capture it, where as the D200 requires a image review after capturing. I guess that is the benefit in shooting NEFs that you can adjust to your heart's content later.

I look good in leather!

Was just commenting to a friend about my sexy new camera and trying to find a suitable analogy, here is an excerpt of our email conversation

... I could have got a very decent D70s and another good lens, but the flexibility and useability of the D200 is lightyears ahead of the D70s. Now that I’ve been using it for a couple of days, going back to [Claire’s] D70 feels like stepping from a maserati into a Toyota celica. Sure both nice cars, but I’d be ridiculed for stepping out of a celica, clad in leather pants, whereas I’d be worshipped for stepping out of a maserati in said pants. I’m not sure of the analogy but it will suffice...

reminds me of a particular ebay auction I was once was sent a link to

Bogans in my garden!

Woot! I was up early this morning coz I was so excited, luckily Claire was already up too so I had some one I could share my excitement with, I think she is secretly laughing at me! Oh well, she doesn't have a D200 does she!? (okay so she has a pretty cool D70 instead).

I was going to post a photo of Sammie who was left out in the cold (literally) by the the hot water system, but me thinks that would have earned me a swift kick in the crackers (in between the little cats strapped to my thighs with cellotape)

Not really a devastating photo but hey I'm still learnin'... Probably going to walk to the botanic gardens this weekend for some more floral fun! Posted by Picasa

Feel the power of this fully operational Death Sta... D200!

It's been a long wait, a very loooooong wait, but avast my hearties! Thar blows the white whale! So I bit the bullet and lumped it in for a D200 and a 90mm Macro lens, who would have thunk that I could do it?! It would have been a much longer wait had I held out for the lens to go with it but I cracked when I found an available D200 body. So what if I have to wait a couple more months for the lens?!

I tire of my deviantart web site so I went the blogger route as so many of my counterparts have. Will post photos as I learn to use the camera
