Quick ones - Disraeli Sunsets

After a long day of rain we got blessed with a very spectacular sunset out west of the CBD.

OCAU Crapshoot - B&W challenge 24 frames with no in-camera review

I suck at B&W. It's gonna take some practice to get my eye in. Luke C and myself set each other the challenge of only 24 frames in B&W with no reviewing of the images in camera. 4 frames were complete crap and 6 were okay. I reckon he did better than I. The rest are here.

NYE at Point Turton, South Australia

Well being first of Feb. I've had ample time to recuperate from NYE (not that it was particularly debauched since we almost missed it coz we all had a nanna nap). It was one of the most spectacular sunsets I have seen in a long time. Also went down to Innes national park whilst we were there.

Victor Harbour - Lots of boring rocks and late sunsets

HDR of Causeway and foreground rocks

Final part to my day with Ben J. Got to Victor Harbour with still too much sky between the sun and the horizon. We putted around and almost forgot to get to Granite Island for sunset photos (which would have wasted the day).

Final one looks fake to me.

Big thanks to Ben J for his tuition and taking the day to do some photographing.

Cheers

Stones, Dog, Logs and woody bits (with snails)

Got around to having a photo day with Ben J (of Keeping you up with the Joneses Blog). We probably ended up with the same set of photos since I was trying to copy... err.. learn as much as I could from Ben. It was an epic day filled with way too much sun and bloody sunsets at 9pm in the evening.

This portion was from Port Willunga on our way down to Victor Harbour.

Excessive wood? You betchya!

6 Months on a Leaky Boat

Well not really, more like 26 hours on a luxury yacht. Was recently invited to partake in a Radon sampling expedition in Moreton Bay aboard the Velella. Chief and I were well chuffed to be included. Here's some pictures.

Competition Updates

So after some effort of going and trying to take competition level photos, it's time to update some of the available results

Canon Photo5 - No short listings - Friend Frink reckons it's because Canon can't let a Nikon camera be short listed or win ;-) Without tooting my own trumpet, there are some truly pov entries, and none of them were admittedly taken from Nikon camera. Which I guess is a good thing! Geez I'm a sore loser! ;-p Go here to vote and view the finalists.

Brisbane Lord Mayor's Photographic Award - On display - Got a letter to say that my entry will be on display alongside the winners from the 30th of November to the 2nd of March in the Museum of Brisbane, Town Hall in the City. WOOT!

Queensland Premier's Multicultural Photographic Awards - Pending - Early next year
